I've been wanting to head down to the Markets for a while now.. not only to be able to play around with shooting film.. but also to try and push myself to actually ask people if I can take their portrait. It's something that I think, as Wedding Photographers we tend to not have to face (too much).. as the majority of the time we're in an environment where that's actually why we're there in the first place. But just asking the general public.. it's definitely a different ball game and No's come just as frequently as Yes's.. so it felt good to take myself out of my comfort zone. Also there's something simply wonderful about the Markets.. the vendors calling out their bargains.. the hustle and bustle.. the total ordinary.. it just makes you feel good being amongst it all.
This is also the first roll of film that I developed myself.. (with a lot of help from the wonderful Dan from somecities. It's something that I've always wanted to do, and kinda can't beleive I haven't done.. and there is something deeply satisfying seeing through the whole process from shooting to scanning. I feel that me and these images have been through a lot together and, quite like I expect it feels when you grow something from seed and it ends up on your plate.. these are most definitely my first 'carrots'.. and I'm super duper proud of them..
Shot with my Canon Ae1 on Kodak 400TX.
